“Above All”: A Solo Exhibition

Exhibition Dates: July - August
Opening Reception & Artist Talk: Dates

Churchwood Gallery is proud to present “Above All”, a breathtaking solo exhibition by multi-disciplinary artist Matt Slobogan. This summer showcase explores the raw, elevated beauty of the American landscape through the lens of a creator who seamlessly blends photography, woodworking, and traditional fine art.

A true craftsman at heart, Slobogan has long worked across mediums—his tools ranging from oil brushes to reclaimed lumber. Whether experimenting with acrylics and house paints on canvas or shaping salvaged wood into functional art, his pieces tell stories of material, memory, and place. In recent years, Slobogan has turned his creative eye to photography, capturing awe-inspiring vistas that reflect both the grandeur and quiet intimacy of nature.

One of Slobogan’s pieces called “Above All”, is a stunning photograph taken in Alma, Colorado, during a trip to Mount Lincoln—one of the highest peaks in the Mosquito Range. These dramatic elevations, often exceeding 10,000 feet, offer panoramic views of the Rocky Mountains and serve as a visual metaphor for Slobogan’s layered practice: rooted in natural form, shaped by human hands, and reaching for something higher.

Each photo is thoughtfully presented in a custom frame handcrafted by Slobogan himself. This marriage of subject and setting invites viewers to consider how beauty, purpose, and sustainability intersect.

Matt Slobogan is the owner of The Preservation Framer, a beloved framing studio and artisan shop in Downtown North Attleborough, Massachusetts. Through his work there and beyond, he has remained committed to craftsmanship, storytelling, and the preservation of the past through creative reuse.
