Fernando da Silva
A Solo Exhibition
Exhibition Dates: November
Opening Reception: Date TBD
Born in Uruguay, Fernando da Silva spent his early childhood on a farm in the Montevideo countryside before immigrating with his Portuguese parents to New Haven, Connecticut in 1984. It was there that his creative foundation began to take root. From a young age, Fernando was drawn to artistic expression, and it wasn’t long before his passion for the visual arts began to emerge.
In 1998, Fernando took his commitment to art to the next level, enrolling at Paier College of Art. Though he studied graphic design, his devotion to painting and drawing remained constant. After graduating, he built a successful 20-year career as an Art Director in both agency and corporate settings, specializing in packaging and brand design. Yet throughout it all, painting remained his true passion—the constant thread in his creative life.
Fernando’s artwork is defined by a unique blend of traditional and contemporary influences. Drawing inspiration from historical styles such as synthetism, constructivism, and impressionism, he breathes new life into techniques once thought lost—creating pieces that evoke both modern energy and nostalgic depth.
Beyond visual art, Fernando’s creative pursuits have extended into the world of music. A seasoned rock musician, he has expressed his artistic voice through bass guitar and vocals in several bands, channeling the same intensity found in his paintings.
Now focused fully on his fine art practice, Fernando is actively exhibiting his work across the East Coast and beyond. His upcoming show at Churchwood Gallery invites viewers to experience the emotional resonance and timeless sensibility of his work.
